Accommodation

The city of Milan offers a wide range of housing options. UCSC may have some rooms available on campus but these are very limited and cannot be guaranteed. Students wanting to live in rooms/apartments can check the university housing announcement board or find them through the international student associations ESEG or ESN.

IMPORTANT: Many apartments or rooms you may find through local newspapers or online announcement boards such as craig's list are not rent controlled and are without legal rental contracts. It is advised to always request a legal rental contract to ensure the liability of the renter or owner of the property you rent from. In case of damage, theft, or any safety issues, the renter is not liable unless you are protected by a legal rental contract. The university declines any responsibility for students who decide to accept a rental without a proper rental contract.

International students attending UCSC, whether their housing is guaranteed or not by the exchange agreement between their sending institution and UCSC, may select the housing option through Milano International Living Service (MIL) located in UCSC International building at Via Carducci, 28/30. If your exchange program or agreement offers this accommodation service, the cost will be included in your total program costs. The apartments provided through MIL Service include wireless Internet connections, utilities (water and electricity), cleaning service, basic cable television, and are fully furnished including extra amenities such as a DVD player, television set, and kitchenware. For those students whose programs do not include this housing option, MIL Service may still be able to provide arrangements depending on the availability of apartments.
